A collaboration with Elizabeth Close for Pirate Life, Adelaide
Elizabeth is the subject of the painting. Her topographical mark making overlays and merges with the painting symbolising her connection to the land. The tattoo on her shoulder, designed by Elizabeth herself, represents a connection to Culture, Community and Country. Like our previous collaborations, this one came together very naturally and we had a lot of fun working together.
Big thanks to Pirate Life for the support and wonderful space.

All money raised from this NFT was donated to UNHCR to support refugees displaced in Afghanistan.
Interconnection shows a connection to the world at a cellular and atomic level. A female figure is in silent communion with the world around her, with her own cells and atoms fusing with the water molecules and the forest. A meditative cycle and connection with each breath.
This is a collaborative work with animator Greg Spencer.

Cell Defence
Acrylic on canvas, 125x125cm.

This painting was made entirely using a laboratory teat pipette and was commissioned by the Institue of Cancer Research in London. The painting shows a liver biopsy where red and green T-cells from the immune system are attacking and overcoming cancerous cells (in yellow).
This was a challenging yet fascinating process to work with a laboratory pipette to make the painting which consists of around 50,000 dots of paint. From an aesthetic point of view it could be viewed as an abstract painting but I could not help emphasising a figurative element of two bodies pushing up against each other in a use of positive and negative space. The struggle of cancer is very real and it is difficult these days not to know someone who has not been affected by cancer in some way. I have had treatments for carcinoma type skin cancers and have lost friends to this disease. The ICR works with cutting edge research and treatments which aim to end and overcome cancer.
Jimmy C

The pipette painting will be displayed permanently in the ICR's new research centre in London, which will open on 17 November 2020.

Jimmy C's skyline mural lights up London Blackfriars

with support from Network Rail

International street artist Jimmy C has turned a wall near London Blackfriars station into a window to a colourful London skyline.

He wrote - Located on the southern side of Blackfriars station along the Thames and close to the Tate Modern, this wall is perhaps the most detailed mural I have ever painted on the street. It is a culmination of several months of research and planning, where I had been exploring depictions of London in my studio on canvas looking to find the right rhythm and curves of the city as well as emphasising the life, light, and energy that was familiar to me. When it came to the planning of the wall I had the idea to create a window or trompe l'oeil effect in the wall, which not only preserved the heritage brick but allowed the mural to fit harmoniously into the space. The view point in the painting is relevant to the position of the wall along the Thames. Thank you to Network Rail for the support and allowing me to realise this dream wall, my homage to London.

She now designs her own clothes and lives locally with her family and children. Thank you to Future Hackney for the introduction and for the inspiring photograph. This mural was painted in conjunction with the The London Mural Festival'.

Portrait of Shakespeare, London
Coinciding with the 400 years since the death of Shakepeare, Jimmy C has painted a portrait of Shakespeare at Bankside in London close to the Rose and Globe theatres where Shakespeare put on many of his plays in London. Shakespeare  lived nearby next to the Blackfriars Bridge and it was during this era that he wrote many of his great plays, including Hamlet, Othello, Macbeth , King Lear and The Tempest. His brother is buried close by in the Southwark Cathedral. The project was supported by Network Rail.

Atomic Rhythm Portrait
Spray paint on canvas, 125x125cm

Atomised will include a new body of work by the artist painted in his signature aerosol pointillist style. The exhibtion will explore notions of how the human subject is connected to the world both at an atomic and macrocosmic level. The circle and the sphere form the central motif in the work.

The exhibition will also feature an interactive real-time self-generating portrait, where visitors to the show can see themselves transformed into the style of a Jimmy C painting.

The real-time portraits are being created in collaboration with digital software artist Stuart Cupit, who has developed a custom application, which uses a Kinect 2 sensor to capture the contours of the subject's face. In real-time, the software uses a complex algorithm to calculate where to place thousands of spray paint dots, reproducing Jimmy's painting style in a fluid, interactive and immersive new piece.

Cosmic Heart window display for Liberty London

Liberty Art Fabrics and street artist James Cochran aka Jimmy C have teamed up to create Cosmic Hearts, a colourful, celestial design depicting energised hearts painted in Jimmy C's signature aerosol pointillist style, floating in a dark and mysterious cosmos.

Central to the design is the heart motif from which individual atoms or spheres of energy seem to burst into the cosmos. Speaking on the design Jimmy C said:

'The heart has become integral to my art in the past year. When I started to paint the hearts on the street I used the term 'street heart' to describe the action and form of a symbol that could communicate a positive message. The collaboration with Liberty is a wonderful way to bring the message and colours of the heart to a new level'.

To mark the launch of Cosmic Hearts, Jimmy C will be recreating his iconic 'street heart' in the window of Liberty from 1pm on tuesday 16 September.

Available on tana lawn in three vibrant colourways: pink, lilac and orange, Cosmic Hearts is available exclusively at Liberty and Liberty.co.uk from Tuesday 16 September.

The Riot Series
Pure Evil Gallery, 108 Leonard st, London
Oct 10 - 27, 2013

These paintings were originally inspired by the London riots in 2011. As riot police gathered outside my studio door and helicopters circled overhead, the electrical energy that I felt in the air was translated directly into my canvases. This resulted in a style that I call the 'scribble paintings', made up of layers of energetic lines of coloured spray paint, incorporating images from the riots.

Since the Arab Spring in 2010, riots have continued around the world, and I thought it was the relevant time to show these paintings. A common thread that can be seen in these riots is the individual's resistance and intolerance of government systems or regimes, and of being forced into marginalised economic conditions. These paintings are observations of social unrest and acts of individual defiance.

Usain Bolt immortalised by renowned street artist akaJimmyC

Renowned street/studio artist James Cochran (aka Jimmy C) has created a large scale street-style portrait of Jamaican Olympic hopeful and sports icon, Usain Bolt, on the wall of an East London car park. The portrait is being created in a distinctive 'scribble style' developed by the artist to reflect the inherent energy and vibrancy of Bolt's personality, as well as visually communicate a sense of speed.

Chosen as a sportsman who reflects the multicultural mix of the local residents, as well as one who crosses sporting boundaries, the East-London based artist has several other large scale works in the same area. He has been painting on the street for 20 years, with walls in cities all over the world bearing his signature style.
