Narcissus 2002, Oil on canvas, 110x154cm
In this painting the myth of Narcissus is adapted into a contemporary context, alluding to the narcissistic traits of today's society. The painting was consequently adapted to a video performance piece. In the video the subject is motionless, which connects it visually to the stillness of the painting, and when played on loop it alludes to a sense of timelessness, the boy lost in his reflection forever.
