pixel The Croc Festival, Port Augusta

The Croc Festival is a celebration of youth culture. It is held in rural and remote areas around Australia for Indigenous and non-Indigenous school students. Each festival takes place over 2-3 days and promotes health, education, careers, sports and the arts. Schools travel to a festival where they are involved in daytime activities with the opportunity to participate in a dance performance at night. This year at the Port Augusta Croc Festival artist Jimmy. C was involved to coordinate aerosol art workshops with around 200 students from different schools. Each group experimented with techniques on boards then collaborated on a mural on a wall at Port Augusta High school. All schools - primary and secondary, government and non-government - as well as youth/community groups were welcome to particpate in the Croc Festival. Students were aged 9-18 years of age. Last year more than 200 schools and 9,000 people particpated in the Croc Festivals, with a cumulative audience of 32,000 people.
